Is It Really A Big Deal?
ChatGPT has certainly made a statement. People are almost scared of how good this AI is. After all, Elon Musk said “We are not far from dangerously strong AI”.
According to analysis by Swiss bank UBS, ChatGPT is now the fastest growing app of all time. For comparison, the app had a 100 million active users in its first 2 months. It took TikTok 9 months to achieve this.
How Are People Using It?
The model has a variety of different features. As well as answering simple questions, writing essays, creating AI art and having conversations, it can even code for you. People have also been asking the chatbot for gift ideas for their family members!
How Does It Work?
This is the technical part. OpenAI has trained the language model by essentially using data and learning from Human Feedback (RLHF). Human AI trainers have provided the model with conversations in which they have acted as both the user and AI.
How Does It Differ From Google?
ChatGPT is a language model created for the sole purpose of holding a conversation with the end user. Google indexes web pages on the internet to help the user find the information they asked for.
It is important to note, ChatGPT does not have the ability to search the internet for information.
Is ChatGPT Good Or Bad?
However you look at it, ChatGPT is an advanced chatbot that has the potential to make peoples lives easier and to assist with everyday tasks. However, it’s nowhere near ready to be used on wide scale.
The chatbot still needs to figure out some technical details beforehand. The possible spread of misinformation has to be eradicated.
In general, in terms of AI itself, it relies on lots of training and fine tuning to reach a good level of performance. It has been questioned with its ability to keep up with the world and current trends.
